Golden Chick Now Open in Port Arthur

Coldwell Banker Commercial Arnold and Associates (CBCAAA) are proud to share new information regarding what Southeast Texans have been buzzing about for months.  The wait is finally over; Golden Chick has officially opened its newest location at 3880 Farm Road 365 in Port Arthur!

The Texas-based favorite kicked off its soft opening July 28, 2025, with free lunch for guests. Franchise owners Rocky, Surekha, Raj and Karan Korpal of Korpal Golden Investments are behind this newest addition, already operating successful Golden Chick locations in Orange and Beaumont. More good news, another location is scheduled to begin construction in Vidor.

“It’s such a central location, particularly to Port Arthur,” said Karan Korpal. “We’re excited to open our doors and welcome the community to our newest store.”

Golden Chick’s menu has something for everyone, from Party Packs for gatherings, to fresh salads, hearty sandwiches, and of course, their legendary fried chicken. The star of the show? The Original Golden Tender, the “filet mignon of chicken,” hand-battered, marinated, and cooked to crispy, golden perfection.

“Raj and Karan are long-time clients of CBCAAA,” said Commercial Agent Tammiey Linscomb. “They have been a pleasure to work with on site selections and construction oversight, and we look forward to watching and helping their franchises continue to grow.”  

A Tender History

The Golden Chick story began in Central Texas in the late 1960s, when a former employee of another chicken franchise envisioned a better way to run a restaurant system. His recipe for success started with secret marinades and hand-battered chicken, quickly attracting new franchise owners.

By 1982, the founder had grown the chain to 39 restaurants before selling it to a new ownership group in 1989. That change sparked fresh momentum and steady growth, with the chain now boasting over 150 locations across the region.

In 1993, the restaurant’s name evolved from Golden Fried Chicken to Golden Chick, ushering in new menu items and a refreshed look. Today, more than 40 years after the first store opened in San Marcos, Golden Chick continues to delight fans with its Original and Still the Best Golden Tenders, Golden Roast, crisp salads, and the best sides in the business.
